The bloodbath timeline of Maoists in Chhattisgarh

Saturday’s bloody attack by Maoist insurgents on Chhattisgarh Congress party leaders and workers was the biggest since the loss of 75 CRPF personnel alongwith a Chhattisgarh police official in a naxal attack in Dantewada district on April 6, 2010.

The Maoists had been indulging in violence consistently in Chhattisgarh. Here is a timeline on the violence and terror unleashed by the insurgents in the restive Bastar region of the State:

• July 18, 2009: Naxalites kill a villager in Bastar and in a separate incident torch a vehicle engaged in road construction work in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
• July 27, 2009: Six persons killed when Naxals trigger a landmine blast at Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh.
• July 31, 2009: A special police officer and another person killed by Naxals in Bijapur district.
• Sep 4, 2009: Naxals kill four villagers in a forest in Aaded village in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district.
• Sep 26, 2009: Naxals kill BJP MP from Balaghat Baliram Kashyap's sons at Pairaguda village in Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh).
• April 6, 2010: 75 CRPF personnel and a Chhattisgarh police official killed in a naxal attack in Dantewada district.
• May 8, 2010: Eight CRPF jawans were killed when Naxals blew up a bullet-proof vehicle in Bijapur district of Chhhattisgarh.
• May 17, 2010: Maoists kill 50 in Dantewada's landmine blast in Chhattisgarh.
• May 8, 2010: Maoists kill 8 CRPF personnel after blowing up a vehicle in Narayanpur district.
• June 29, 2010: Maoists kill 26 CRPF personnel after firijng at a 63-member contingent in Raipur.
• July 8, 2010: Maoists kill 7 men in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
• November 23, 2010: Maoists kill 2 CRPF personnel in Bijapur after triggering a landmine blast.
• June 9, 2011: Naxals kill four personnel of Chhattisgarh Armed Forces.
• June 26, 2011: Five security men killed in twin Maoists attack in Chhattisgarh.
• August 19, 2011: Maoists kill 11 policemen in Chhattisgarh.
• October 21, 2011: Maoists shoot down a helicopter carrying BSF personnel, kill all three on board in Chhattisgarh.
• October 21, 2011: Maoists kill 6 cops in Chhattisgarh.
• May 13, 2012: Naxal ambush in Dantewada claims seven lives.
• August 7, 2012: Maoists kill 2 CRPF personnel in Dantewada.
• May 12, 2013: Maoists kill 3 cops in attack on Doordarshan tower in Chhattisgarh
