Testing of Raipur Int'l Hockey Stadium performed

The testing of newly built ‘Polygrass Olympia Hockey Pitch Stadium’ in Government Science College was performed by a two-member team of Acousto-Scan, an accredited laboratory specialised in Playground and Sports Surface Testing, here on Tuesday.

A team led by Company Director Grant Humphreys carried out a day-long inspection of the stadium following the directives of International Hockey Federation (FIH). The team members said they were satisfied with the way pitch has been designed after the first round of testing.

They, however, refused to divulge the report and are going to submit the same to the FIH on the basis of which a certificate will be issued for hosting international hockey events.

Notably, FIH has established a network of accredited laboratories for the purpose of certifying ‘Synthetic Hockey’ pitch products and of testing the compliance of installations. Testing of other hockey products such as balls and ancillary equipment is also specified.

Testing and certification of synthetic pitch products and hockey pitches are carried out by the laboratory to the specifications contained in the FIH Standard.
