Sensation prevailed in Menduka village of Gourela thana area as bodies of a doctor and a nursing student were found in doctor’s clinic.

While the blood coated body of the doctor was lying in bed, the body of nursing student was found hanging from the ceiling. The room was locked from inside. Police is investigating the case considering it as a double murder. According to Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Ratan lal Dangi, prima facie the incident looked a case of love affair as not only doors of the room were bolted from inside but also the situation inside the room pointed towards that.

Both the bodies were in semi nude condition. While the doctor’s hands were tied with a blue colour ribbon on his back and there was stab wound mark in his stomach, the girl was hanging from the ceiling. Prima facie, the police suspected murder of the doctor while the girl might have committed suicide, Dangi added. According to police, village Menduka resident Rakesh Manjhi (26), son of Kanhaiyya Manjhi was MBBS doctor and was running a clinic in his village near his house. The girl, Chunmun Manjhi (25), daughter of Ramadhar

Manjhi, a resident of Makshuda village of Marwahi area and a distant relative of the doctor was a student of nursing. She used to come Menduka daily from her village to attend her college and also learnt clinical skill at Doctor Manjhi’s clinic. On Thursday, Chunmun reportedly did not attend her college and directly came to the clinic. At noon when all the staff of the clinic went on recess she remained at the clinic. After recess when the staff returned they found the doors of the doctor’s rest room, located beside the clinic, closed. Even after repeated knocks when it did not open, they along with relatives of the doctor broke them open and also informed the police.

After entering the room they found blood coated body of Dr Manjhi lying in the bed, body of Chunmun was hanging from ceiling. After receiving the news of double murder Additional SP Vijay Pandey, SDOP R D Sonwani and other police officials also reached the spot and after performing panchnama sent the body for post mortem. FSl team and dog squad have also been pressed in to service but real cause of the death could be known only after the report of of PM, police said. Police suspected that as Dr Manjhi could have tried to outrage the modesty of the girl she would have stabbed him and thereafter could have committed suicide. Meanwhile, the incident has sent shock wave in the area.
