Under the Social Security Insurance Scheme, the State Forest Department has paid a claim amount of Rs53 lakh to 1229 families of Tendupatta collectors in the initial six months of the ongoing financial year till September 2015, officials stated.
According to officials, as many as 1026 Tendupatta collectors were given a claim amount of Rs87 lakh during the last financial year.
State Minor Forest Produce Cooperative Federation Managing Director Bl Saran said here on Friday that the head of the family in addition to the last family member of Tendupatta collectors whose age is between 18 and 59 years is benefitted with the Social Security Insurance Scheme.
Under this scheme, the nominee is given Rs3,500 for the Tendupatta collector’s normal death. In partial disability, the Tendupatta collector or nominee receives Rs12,500. For accidental or full disability, the amount is Rs25,000.
