Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Monday said that social media has been a great contributor in effective implementation of public welfare schemes.

“Chhattisgarh has been actively using latest technologies in bringing about change in fields of education, health and nutrition,” he said, while addressing ‘India Social Good Summit 2015’ at IIT New Delhi.

Resident Coordinator (UN) Yuri, Bollywood Actor Dia Mirza, NDTV senior Anchor Sunetra Choudhary, Founder Youth ki Awaaz Anshul Tewari, Co-founder of Menstrupedia Aditi Gupta and Principal Secretary of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Aman Kumar Singh were present at the summit.

Elaborating on the contribution of technology in strengthening the education sector of the State, Singh said that Chhattisgarh has started an online monitoring system to ensure 100 per cent attendance of teachers in schools and the move has resulted in more than 80 per cent increase in teachers’ attendance.

He said that the technology has also helped in spreading the education in remote areas.

Singh added that Chhattisgarh has reformed the old education system with the help of latest technologies such as Facebook, Twitter and Radio.

He said the State has used these technologies to connect with people. “We have given our people the right to food and nutrition, eradicated malnutrition from the State and decreased the infant mortality rate and maternal mortality rate with the help of society and technology,” he said.
