The Tata Bisthapit Chhatra Sangh has threatened to resort to indefinite agitation in front of the Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF), an ITI training centre of Tata at Gopalpur if the authorities fail to provide permanent employment to the displaced persons at the company’s Gopalpur steel plant from July 2.

“Though 18 years have been elapsed into the acquisition of our land, the Tata company is yet to provide even a job to the displaced persons,” said P lachameya Reddy. He alleged that, “Whenever we agitate for our rights, the company authorities harass us engaging goons.” During the visit of the Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Tara Dutta to the district on June 22, we apprised him about our issues.

“The Additional Chief Secretary has directed the RDC to convene a meeting with displaced people on June 30. If the authorities will ignore our issues this time too we will be forced to sit in an indefinite dharana in front of the NTTF from July 2,” said N Narayan Reddy.
