Commissioner of Raipur Municipal Corporation Taran Prakash Sinha Friday lost his cool over the slow pace of Mahadeo Ghat beautification and construction of the proposed bypass road connecting GE Road with the Ring Road.

While Zone 5 commissioner was issued show cause notice for the tardy pace of work, Sinha ordered for stopping two annual increments to the respective executive engineer besides asking to initiate strict action against the contractor for the delay. He asked the Municipal officials to accord top priority to implementation of public welfare schemes.

The RMC Commissioner on Friday visited the site of public welfare schemes undertaken by RMC and went to see Mahadeo Ghat beautification and renovation of Muktidham undertaken by Zone 5 on the embankment of Kharun River. He also went to see the construction of proposed bypass road from Science College to Rohinipuram which will connect GE Road with the Ring Road but after seeing the slow pace of progress he not only severely reprimanded the staff of Zone 5 and the respective contractor but also immediately issued show cause notice to Zone 5 commissioner K K Sing and ordered to held up two annual increments of zone 5 executive engineer Sanjay Sharma.  He asked Sing and Sharma to ensure construction of approach road, proposed under Mahadeo Ghat Beautification scheme, as also the approach road between Hatkeshwarnath Mandir and Kharun River at the earliest so that devotees could perform religious rites conveniently. He also asked the two officials to ensure speedy construction of the proposed bypass road, which will connect GE Road with Ring Road, for the benefit of public who at present have to take a long route to reach Ring Road from the GE Road.

Notably, with the help of Urban Administration and Development department of the state government, Zone 5 of the RMC is constructing a 60 ft wide bypass road at the cost of Rs4 crore 99 lakh.

This road will be constructed in two phases from Science College to Rohinipuram Gate and from Gole Chowk to Ring Road. About 80 percent work on the stretch from Science College to Rohinipuram Gate has been completed.
