Chhattisgarh Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu on Sunday asked police officials to strictly deal with crime and criminals.

While chairing a review meeting, Sahu asked the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Subrat Sahoo, Director General of Police D.M. Awasthi and other officers including SPs and IGs to take tougher measures to keep crime under control, a press release said.

During the online meeting, Sahu called for regular night police patrols and installation of CCTVs at all vital points on the streets and roads for better monitoring.

He also instructed to increase monitoring of people coming to hotels. “Take strict action against drug peddlers in coordination with Excise officials,” the Minister said.

He said the duty of the police is to help the public, not to harass. He asked the police officials to strengthen the information network and provide immediate help to the public during distress.

He told the officials to act sensitively in cases related to women.

Additional Chief Secretary Sahoo asked the police to help the Health Department in the battle against Covid.

Awasthi told the officials to actively maintain law and order in the state.
