Take Central schemes info to booth level: Digvijay to INTUC workers

All India Congress Committee General Secretary Dijvijay Singh called on Indian National Trade Union Congress workers to canvass for the party up to booth level to help it form the Government at the Centre in 2014 lok Sabha elections besides monitoring the central schemes run for the benefit of labourers. He also called on the government to lower the Tax and GDP ratio and chartout fresh policy for those who are capable of paying tax.

Inaugurating the three-day national convention of INTUC in Raipur Saturday, Singh said that for enabling the party to form the next government at the centre in 2014 Parliamentary election members of INTUC should publicise the Central schemes up to booth level and be vigilant to see if the benefits of welfare schemes run for poor and workers reach the deserving person or not.

INTUC is organisation of workers and not of management and this status should be maintained. Sometimes, differences appear between Central government and workers but the responsibility of solving this difference also lies on the shoulder of the INTUC which should work keeping in view the interests of the organisation, he said.

Singh said that the Centre was running a number of welfare schemes for poor and workers besides empowering the common man. In this scenario, responsibility of protecting the rights of workers lies with INTUC and called on the organisation to be watchful if the benefits of schemes run for poor like providing food at cheaper rates reach the deserving section or not. According to Singh, with the changing time, the party has also changed itself with public sector’s role increasing in economy with the role of workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee president Charandas Mahant said that the state government was seeing the dream of state’s development but hardly worked for the development of poor workers. It’s Congress which strives for the welfare of poor and workers. The Bharatiya Janata Party has the habit of seeing dreams and the proxy lal Quila erected at Ambikapur for the conclusion of Vikash Yatra was also the result of that dream, he exclaimed. According to Mahant, Chhattisgarh is a state of workers. Some years back they had observed strike for 67 days which showed their strength, he added.
