District Collector Rajesh Sukumar Toppo has directed officials to take stern action against co-operative societies, rice millers or farmers if they are found ‘recycling’ paddy in the district.
In a meeting attended by the rice millers and the district officials, Toppo also directed to expedite the work of paddy transportation and completion of custom milling of paddy within the prescribed time frame.
On the complaint of some rice millers that the weight of paddy bags was less than the standard weight, the Collector directed the District Food Officer to carry out monitoring in such procurement centres from time to time and launch an inquiry where such complaints have been made.
The Collector also directed the officials to collect the rice received from the millers in the godowns.
