Police have lodged an extortion case against suspended Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Gurjinder Pal Singh in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district, police said on Wednesday.
The Indian Police Service officer was earlier booked for sedition and corruption case and his plea for interim relief were rejected by the High Court.
The extortion case was lodged at the Supela police station in Durg district under IPC Sections 388, 506 and 34 following a complaint from a businessman, said Durg Superintendent of Police Prashant Agrawal.
The complainant told the police that the officer extorted Rs 20 lakhs from him through his associate Ranjeet Saini in 2016 on the threat of fabricating a bogus case.
Earlier, Singh, a 1994 batch IPS officer, was booked for corruption on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.
