A villager was killed by suspected armed Naxals in Milanpalli village under Jagargunda police station of the insurgency-hit Sukma district of Bastar.
The Naxals had killed the villager while branding him as a police informer, a senior police official said here on Monday. Superintendent of Police D Shravan informed that some suspected armed rebels had stormed into house of Madkami Hidma (38) late on Sunday night. They then abducted Madkami at gun point. Madkami’s body was later found near a village on Monday morning. Injury marks of being severely hit by some blunt object were visible on his body, the SP said.
Naxal pamphlets branding him as police informer were found near the body. The daughter-in-law of Madkami is a District Panchayat member and one of his relatives is in the police force which made Madkami an easy target, Shravan said. A case has been registered in this connection and police had launched a manhunt to nab the rebels, the SP added.
