Suspected Maoists allegedly killed a villager, branding him as ‘police informer’ in insurgency infested Narayanpur, police said on Tuesday.
Initial investigation taken up by the police suggests that the person killed by suspected insurgents was said to be mentally challenged, police said, adding that the incident took place in forests falling under limits of Orchha police station.
According to the police, by branding Fagu Markaam, a resident of village lubha labha under Makdi police limits, as ‘police informer’, suspected rebels brutally murdered him with sharp edged weapon and dumped his body in the forest.
Police investigators feel that Fagu, suffering from some psychological problem might have entered into Orccha forest pocket which led to his murder.
After being informed about recovery of a body with severe injuries, police rushed to the spot and started to search for the assailants, added police.
