Suspected Naxalites on Sunday killed a former colleague in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, apparently for quitting the group.
Baman Poyam had earlier worked as a militia member of the outlawed organization. Three months ago, he decided to return to the mainstream of the society and surrendered to the police in Bijapur.
According to police sources, his body was discovered on the Pondum road on Sunday morning. The police have evidence that he was stabbed after being tied up.
However, the Maoists have not claimed responsibility for the crime.
Officials suspect that the Maoists killed Baman for leaving the organization.
