Farmers in Surguja district are getting seeds and fertilizers at their doorstep through distribution camps before the commencement of the kharif season. The district administration has set a target to distribute seeds and fertilisers to farmers before the arrival of monsoons.
The initiative taken by Surguja District Collector Ritu Sen last year has saved their time and efforts in stocking best quality seeds and fertilisers, officials stated. According to sources, in the second week of May, more than 35 per cent seeds and fertilisers —1475 quintal seed and 1312 tonne fertilisers — have been distributed to the farmers through the 441 camps. Besides, 3,000 mini kits of pulses and gram have been distributed to the farmers.
Chief Minister Raman Singh during his recent visit to the district was impressed by the formula adopted in the district and has decided to implement the same across the State for the convenience of the farmers.
Singh also directed the officials to adopt the Surguja district formula and to implement them in rest of the State. In the presence of Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand, Collector Ritu Sen and Agriculture officers, the Chief Minister saw the distribution of seeds and fertilizers at Maindra and appreciated the efforts through which farmers were getting seeds and fertilizers.
On reaching Raipur, Singh issued directives for organising similar distribution centre in rest of the districts. At present the distribution of seeds are done successfully in all parts of the State and farmers are happy with it.
