Super Speciality hospital to come up in Naya Raipur

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has told officials to reserve 25 acres of land in Nava Raipur to set up a private hospital equipped with world class facilities.

This is part of the government's steps to utilize the potential of the private sector as well, an official communication said on Wednesday.

The well-equipped hospital will provide patients treatment under state government schemes. Patients from Chhattisgarh will no longer have to go to other states for treatment of critical diseases.

Baghel has also sought an action plan from all District Collectors for upgradation of all the government hospitals, right from the block to the district level.

After the second wave of Covid-19, the Chief Minister has made health infrastructure development his top priority.

Establishment of a private hospital of international standards in Nava Raipur will benefit not only Chhattisgarh but also the neighbouring states, the statement said. The Chief Secretary has been told to submit an action plan within 15 days from the Health Department to develop this hospital facility.

Baghel said that although super-specialty facilities are available in many government and private sector hospitals of the state, still many times patients need immediate transfer to hospitals in metro cities via air ambulance.

This, he said, is not only very expensive and painful and can even prove fatal to the patients. A private hospital was needed to give treatment for all kinds of serious diseases in the state itself.

The proposed hospital should have a capacity of 1,000-1,500 beds and 50 percent of the patients should be compulsorily treated under Dr. Khoobchand Baghel Swasthya Sahayata Yojana or Ayushman Bharat scheme.
