The surveyors deployed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to gather feedback on ticket aspirants on Thursday submitted their report to the party’s office bearers in a meeting held here this morning.

It was learnt that the local BJP office bearers in Abhanpur Assembly this time round are opposing the name of Agricul-ture Minister Chandrashekhar Sahu to be offered a ticket.

Some of the office bearers, it was learnt outrightly opposed the name of Sahu while suggesting that only a change in the name would benefit the Abhanpur seat. Instead, they suggested the names of State Warehousing Corporation Chairman Ashok Bajaj and Balram Tiwari.

It was also learnt that a suggestion was also made to the party office bearers that the sitting Dharseevan MlA Devjibhai Patel may not be offered a ticket to contest from the seat.

Some of the office bearers were of the view that Patel is an ‘outsider’ and a local candidate must be offered a ticket to increase chances of winning from the Dharseeva seat. This apart, the office bearers also wanted new faces to get an opportunity to contest from various Assembly seats.

The surveyors named for suggesting names of candidates for the Assembly segments under Raipur lok Sabha are Rajya Sabha member Nandkumar Sai, Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar, Chhattisgarh Assembly Deputy Speaker Narayan Chandel and Girdhar Gupta.
