Stung by the letter of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee Friday sent B Form for Jashpur Nagar Palika corporators post from where the party fielded two candidates for the by-poll.

Deputy leader Rampukar Singh has been assigned the task of declaring the official candidate. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Prabal Pratap Singh, the youngest son of former Union Minister Dilip Singh Judeo, for this post.

Notably, former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi on Thursday had shot a letter to the sitting CGPCC president Nand Kumar Patel asking him to allow the former propose a candidate for the Jashpur Nagar Palika by-poll if the State party office bearers lacked any suitable candidate.

Jogi had raised strong objection against giving walkover second time to BJP candidate in Jashpur Nagar Palika which is considered as strong hold of Judeo family. The post of corporator of Jashpur Nagar Palika fell vacant after the death of Shatrunjay Pratap Singh Judeo, the elder son of Dilip Singh Judeo. The by-poll is slated for May 24 for which the BJP has fielded Judeo’s younger son Prabal Pratap Singh who was till recently working in US.

On his return after the death of his elder brother, he has announced to join active politics. According to sources, Jogi wanted to put up a strong candidate against the BJP candidate as all corporators in this Nagar Palika are of BJP.

Meanwhile, after receiving the letter of Jogi, Congress state president Patel reviewed the situation and also enquired from the party’s Jashpur district president in this regard who reportedly told Patel that information regarding the fielding of candidate had already been given to in-charge general secretary of Raigarh Parliamentary constituency Bhupesh Baghel despite that nomination of candidate for the by-poll was delayed.

According to party sources, earlier also the party had fielded candidate against son of Judeo but in the last hours he withdrew from the poll. After the order of Patel, general secretary Subhash Sharma rushed the B form through the hand of son in law of Rampukar Singh to Jashpur. Kiran Singh and Urmila Bhagat have filed their nomination papers on behalf of the party and after scrutiny nomination papers of whichever candidate will be found correct, she would be declared official nominee.
