Now, college and university students can apply for Central Scholarship Scheme online up to September 18. Application form and information about the scheme and rules are available in the website www.cgbse.net of Chhattisgarh Secondary Education Board.
According to Chhattisgarh Secondary Education Board officers, maximum 1,387 colleges and university students could be benefited from the Central Regional Scholarship Scheme, launched by the Central Government in 2008.
Under the scheme, every year, 694 students from science branch, 462 from commerce branch and 231 from Manviki group will be benefited. In this, 15 per cent is reserved for scheduled caste, 7.5 per cent for scheduled tribe and 27 per cent for other backward class students. In all these classes, 3 per cent is reserved for physically handicapped.
According to the officers, under the scheme, such students, whose parents’ yearly income is not more than six lakh rupees and who are in the age group of 18-25 years, are eligible for this scholarship. The students should have scored 80 per cent marks in the 12th exam held in 2013-14 and have taken admission in any college for first year in the academic session 2014-15.
The eligible student will get scholarship `1,000 per month in the first three years of graduate courses and `2,000 per month for post graduate courses. For professional courses, students will get `1,000 per month for the first three years and `2,000 per month for the 4th and 5th years. This scholarship will be for 10 months in an academic year.
