The five-storeyed building constructed at an estimated cost of `59.56 crore has 430 rooms and six conference halls in a total area of 15,000 square metres.  The building also has a solar power plant of 200 KW capacity and arrangement for rain water harvesting.

“This building with ultra modern facilities will be of great assistance to Departmental employees as well as people coming here,” the Chief Minister said in his address after inaugurating the building.

He said that the offices of NRDA and CECB will start functioning from Wednesday itself while CGHB  office will start functioning in the new building by August 15 this year.

Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Munat who was also present on the occasion said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Raman Singh, Naya Raipur is developing rapidly.

Principal Secretary, Housing and Environment, Aman Kumar Singh said that the building has been constructed on the parameters fixed by Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA).

Notably, in June last year, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) had accorded 'five star rating' to the better energy efficiency practices at the State Mantralaya here.

The high rating had been provided for better energy management in the Mantralaya’s offices.

The Mantralaya achieved the Energy Display Index of 81.49 which made it eligible for a high BEE rating, officials stated.

The BEE divides buildings and weather on five and three categories respectively under which buildings are categorised as ‘air conditioned’ and ‘non air conditioned’.

The Mantralaya had been accorded rating under ‘air conditioned’ and ‘mixed climate’.

Notably, Naya Raipur- Chhattisgarh’s fast emerging high–tech capital city is also expected to receive a major funding push from the Central government if it makes it in the next round of competition for inclusion in the ambitious ‘Smart City’ project.

Notably, a total of seven capital cities in the country left out of Smart City Mission will also be allowed to participate in the competition.

These cities are : Patna, Shimla, Naya Raipur, Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh), Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala).
