The term ‘Best Agricultural Practices’ which had been the work culture of farmers for decades in Gujarat is now set to be imbibed by their counterparts in Chhattisgarh.

Thanks to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who, through his nationwide agenda to assist farmers learn the Gujarati art of successful entrepreneurship in the farm sector had about 160 Chhattisgarh farmers learning the ropes of not just achieving better farm output but also at the same time learn the mantras for effectively marketing their produce.

The ‘Vibrant Gujarat Agricultural Global Summit’ had 160 farmers from Chhattisgarh besides 60 office bearers from the Chhattisgarh unit of BJP’s Kisan Morcha attending the mega meet on September 11 this year in Gujarat’s State capital Gandhinagar.

The summit assumes significance in the context of the BJP’s Kisan Morcha Wing already mobilising scores of farmers across the country for the Mission-2014 (Assembly polls) and Mission-2014 for the parliamentary polls.

“let me clarify that this (summit) had nothing to do with polls. This was purely a summit to get the farmers from across the country congregate here (in Gandhinagar) and listen to success stories of Gujarat’s farmers besides their counterparts in other States,” former president of the Gujarat unit of BJP Purshottam Rupala, who is also a close aide of the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, told The Pioneer over telephone from Ahmedabad.

He said that the farmers from across the country including Chhattisgarh were showcased Denmark’s ‘Best Agricultural Practices’ adopted with great success by the Gujarat farmers for many years now.

There were technical sessions at the summit where the internationally renowned agricultural experts informed the farmers about various techniques to boost their yield, Rupala said.

The exhibition held at the venue of the summit had very few companies showcasing their products as is the general practice with such events. Instead, it had Gujarat’s farmers showcasing how they brought an agricultural revolution in their State using globally recognised agricultural best practices, he said.
