Education is necessary for development and an educated society leads a State or Nation. This is the reason why the Chhattisgarh Government is working for educating tribal people, said Chief Minister Raman Singh on Sunday.
He was addressing a tribal convention held to mark the ‘International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples’ here at the Sports Complex.
“To ensure that our Tribal children get better education, education hubs have been established in Dantewada and Bijapur. A similar education hub is coming up in Narayanpur. Through ‘Prayas’ we are preparing our students for medical and engineering entrance examination,” the Chief Minister said.
He expressed happiness that as a result of these efforts every year several children are taking admission in medical and engineering courses.
“Whenever a Tribal child gets selected for IIT or NIT then it feels that change has begun to occur in society,” he remarked.
Singh informed the gathering that State Government has always been sensitive for protecting Tribal rights and about 32 per cent of the total budget of the State government is spent for the welfare of Tribal people.
The Chief Minister further mentioned that for increasing the participation of Tribal children in civil services examinations, a Tribal Youth hostel has been set up in New Delhi.
He also warned that those people who are taking undue benefits by submitting fake caste certificate will have to face strict action.
