In order to address infertility related issues, the Indian Fertility Society Chhattisgarh Chapter organised a State-level infertility conference on ‘Back to Basics’ of fertility in presence of specialist of the field - Dr Parikshit Tank and Dr laxmi Shrikhande here on Sunday.

The specialists addressed issues like ‘Endometriosis in infertility’ & ‘Ovulation Induction in PCOS’. During the conference it emerged that lifestyle choices may impact fertility, such as caffeine use, stress, exercise and diet. Couples should not assume that infertility is the result of a medical problem. Gynecologist may recommend lifestyle changes to increase fertility. Both the male and female should be evaluated, the experts express during the conference.

Dr Manoj Chellani, secretary Indian Fertility Society Chhattisgarh Chapter speaking on the occasion said, “If pregnancy is not achieved after primary physician recommended a treatment plan for three cycles, women should be referred to a fertility specialist. If test results indicate a blockage in the fallopian tubes, abnormal uterus, abnormal sperm or low sperm count, couples should consult with a fertility specialist immediately as they may be candidates for in vitro fertilisation (IVF) or intrauterine insemination (IUI).”
