The Chhattisgarh Government will felicitate sportspersons on the occasion of birth anniversary of Hockey wizard Major Dhyanchand observed as ‘National Sports Day’ on Tuesday.
The day will be celebrated with conduct of ‘State Sports Awards Ceremony’ in which Chief Minister Raman Singh will be the chief guest, an official Press release said.
Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Gourishankar Agrawal will preside over the function to be held at Indoor Stadium at 11.00 am.
The function is being organized by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department.

Meanwhile, it may be recalled that Chief Minister Raman Singh on February 19 this year had announced that an Athletics Academy will be opened in the State.
He was addressing participants of a ‘Half Marathon’ of 21 kms, 10 kms and 5 kms during the prize distribution ceremony in Naya Raipur.
The ‘Half Marathon’ was organized by Chhattisgarh Sports and Youth Welfare Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel had also announced that a Regional Office of Sports Authority of India (SAI) will also be opened in Chhattisgarh.
