Terming as yet another political stunt of the State Government ahead of assembly poll to fool the people, Congress criticised the State Government proposal to take affidavit from contractors regarding no payment of graft by them for the contract.
In a press release issued on Sunday, Congress Party’s State spokesman Sushil Anand Shukla said that the State Government’s proposal showed as if after nine and half years of its tenure in Chhattisgarh the BJP Government has come out of its slumber and trying to prove itself clean by imposing the ‘Satya Nistha Sandhi’ (affidavit of clean practice) on contractors.
Questioning the timing of Government move, Shukla asked if before this provision all the contracts awarded by the State Government were being given on the basis of graft and if that was the case then why the Government remained a mute spectator for the last nine and half years and awakened only when the Assembly polls are just five months away.
The Congress spokesman alleged that in a month or two, ban will come in to force on awarding contract or making any purchase for Government departments as soon as election code of conduct comes in to force.
In this situation State Government’s bid to prove itself clean on contract front is merely a propaganda, as people are well aware of the functioning in Government departments where nothing happens without paying graft, Shukla alleged.
