State Govt responsible for accidents in hospitals: Cong

Published on:

leader of Opposition TS Singhdeo and Congress State President Bhupesh Baghel held the State government responsible for the negligence in treatment in the government hospitals besides taking no steps to check re-occurrence of such incidents, they stated.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the leaders said that the healthcare service has crippled across the State due to shortage of doctors. People have no option except going to the private hospitals or quacks, they stated.

The situation in not good in government hospitals where doctors are available as these doctors come late on duty. The patients are kept waiting in queues for hours. The hospitals have insufficient beds and other facilities, the duo alleged.

Both the leaders said that Dr Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur has always remained in focus due to negligence in treatment, misbehaviour with patients, shortage of essential drugs and machines etc.

said that the Smart Card scheme for treatment of poor people is a good scheme but the patients are being cheated. The Smart Card is being misused by different means to serve the interest of others. The money is withdrawn from the Smart Card, treatment of unregistered persons through Smart Card, payment for treatment of others through the card,  and overcharging for treatment, etc are some common ill practices of the smart card scheme.

The primary health centers ( PHCs), community health centers (CHCs) and sub-health centers too are suffering due to shortage of doctors, medicines, and necessary machines and equipment, they alleged.
