The Sports and Youth Welfare Directorate held a meeting at Khel Bhavan here on Friday to review the preparations made for making the Annual State Marathon-2014 scheduled to be held on January 12 in Raipur, a success.
Jitendra Sukla, Director of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department reviewed the progress made by different departments in preparing for the event. It was decided to hold the marathon on January 14 on the occasion of Vijay Diwas, which was earlier planned on December 14. Shukla said different departments had been entrusted with tasks during the previous preparatory meeting. He directed the officials of the departments to ensure that they were completed on time.
He also emphasised the need for better coordination among the departments while also reviewing the matter related to the appointment of Nodal Officer, marking of the running track. Shukla directed the officials to ensure that more and more school children participate in the marathon. He also reviewed other arrangements including those related to sanitation and health.
