Chhattisgarh State Congress general secretary Bhupesh Baghel, in separate letters written to the Chief Election Commissioner of India, New Delhi and the Chief Secretary of Chhattisgarh State, which were released to the press on Monday, accused the Chhattisgarh

BJP government of doing politics by taking out Government ‘Yatra’. He said that the politicisation of the ‘Government Yatra’ by the BJP was objectionable.

He said that the Constitution of India prohibits misuse of government machinery in political works. But in the ‘Vikas Yatra’ taken out by the Chhattisgarh government, vehicles painted with ‘BJP colours’ were being used, which clearly indicates that BJP was conspiring to take benefit by misusing Government machinery and public fund, he added.

He said that misuse of government officers and employees for political purpose is direct violation of the Civil Services Act.The State of politicisation of Vikas Yatra is that the state preparation meeting of the Yatra was held in the State headquarters of the BJP and in the district preparation meetings, along with Government officers,

BJP office-bearers have also participated, he alleged. Enclosing the clippings of newspaper reports in support of his claims, Baghel said that the statements made by the secretary to the chief minister, Subodh Singh and BJP State president Ramsevak Paikara on April 18 was a living example of politicisation of Vikas Yatra.
