Newly appointed PCC chief Mohan Markam on Monday announced that the state Congress was going to launch a statewide week-long demonstration against the Centre from July 7.
Markam while talking to media persons here at party’s state headquarters Rajiv Bhawan gave details of the party’s work plan for the coming days.
He also informed that he was going for an extensive tour of Bastar region from Tuesday. Ensuing victory of party candidates in the two vacant assembly seats of the region where bye-elections would be held would be his top priority, the new Pradesh Congress president said.
The PCC chief said “discrimination and neglect” by the Centre towards the state prompted the party to launch the protest.
The Center had recently reduced the kerosene quota even though there are 40,000 houses in the state which are not yet electrified. In the absence of electricity they are dependent on kerosene for lighting lamps at night, he said.
Citing several issues for which protest would be launched, Markam informed that all the units of district headquarters have been asked for staging demonstration simultaneously from July 7 to 12.
