State BJP to Cong: Play Opposition's role well

State BJP president Vishnudev Sai slammed the State Congress president Bhupesh Baghel for levelling baseless allegations against Chief Minister Raman Singh here on Tuesday.

The State BJP chief was reacting to his Congress counterpart’s alleged statement that the Chief Minister was making frequent trips to Delhi in an attempt to save his chair.

According to him, the Congress leader did not have any right to make such a statement what is termed as cheap allegation against the popular Chief Minister of the State who has been elected thrice in a row.

The people elected the Chief Minister, he said after they were happy with the developmental works he had initiated for them  and making such allegation against a democratically elected Chief Minister was not in tune with the best established practice of politics, he reminded the Congress leader.

Quoting a statement of former State Congress President Dr Charandas Mahant who reported to have said that he (Mahant) was ready to even sweep if party president Sonia Gandhi asked to do so Sai said “it was height of sycophancy”. This, he said, is the state of the mind of Congress leaders.

According to him, the people had given the Congress a mandate to play the role of Opposition and urged it to do it well instead of making baseless allegations.
