State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice-president and spokesperson Sachchidanand Upasane on Wednesday questioned as to why the Centre and States fighting insurgency had still not been able to draft a proper strategy to find a permanent solution to the problem.
“Naxal violence is a direct challenge to the country and its democratic system. One cannot escape the responsibility of countering insurgency either by demanding Chief Minister’s resignation or instituting a probe after violence is unleashed by the Maoists,” he said in a statement.
Upasane said that this is no time for trading charges and counter charges in the aftermath of Tuesday’s Maoist incident in the Jeeram valley of Bastar leading to killing of security personnel and a civilian .
