Surguja Division Commissioner TC Mahawar on Thursday asked the Water Resources Department officials to ensure the cleaning of canals and canal linings in drought-affected areas through employment-oriented works.
According to Mahawar, the initiative will create job opportunities for many and help in the expansion of irrigational activities. The instruction was part of the review meeting held under the aegis of the Commissioner at Ambikapur town.
He further directed the Water Resources officers to ensure the availability of water in all the water resources and prepare work plans for the irrigation facilities of Rabi crop.
The Water Resources Officer of Koriya district informed that out of the 86 Irrigation Plans, 65 plans have facilitated the farming of Kharif crops in around 7, 106 hectare area.
