nThe Raipur district administration has formed special teams to strictly implement the instructions of National Green Tribunal (NGT) to prevent the burning of firecrackers which cause excessive sound and air pollution.
The teams will also monitor bursting of firecrackers in the district to ensure that the directives are followed, a press release from the Raipur administration said on Friday.
The teams will work under the supervision of District Collector S. Bharti Dasan.
Separate teams have been formed for Arang, Abhanpur and Birgaon municipal corporations.
During Diwali, illegal crackers shops mushroom at several places. To curb them, the special teams will swiftly act in coordination with the district administration, the press release said. To maintain transparency and swiftness in action, police, civic bodies and the Chhattisgarh Environment Pollution Control Board will be part of these committees.
