Chalking out an offensive poll strategy against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, the Congress has decided to invoke all its might in the electioneering for the 18 seats comprising 12 of Bastar going to polls on November 11. According to the strategy, while the party high command Sonia Gandhi would address public meeting at Jagdalpur, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi hold a public meet at Kanker to woo the tribal masses.
Notably, under the leadership of AICC Treasurer Motilal Vora, State Election Campaign Committee held its first meeting on Saturday which was attended by almost all senior leaders of the party including CGPCC President Charandas Mahant, Election campaign committee convenor Ajit Jogi, Parliamentarian Mohsina Kidwai, AICC General Secretary and Chhattisgarh In-charge BK Hariprasad, Congress legislature Party leader Ravindra Choubey and others.
In the meeting it was decided to concentrate the focus of the party on the 18 seats going to polls in first phase. During the campaign the leaders will not only publicise the public welfare schemes run by the Central Government but also raise the incidents of corruption and various scams committed by the State Government among the masses.
Since Rahul Gandhi had lauched the party’s poll campaign at Jagdalpur, his next public meeting would now be organised at Kanker whereas to align Tribal population with the party, Sonia Gandhi’s meeting will be organised at Jagdalpur. The meeting will also decided to send star campaigners after consulting with the respective candidates.
Besides Bastar, the party has also decided to campaign vigorously in constituencies of Rajnandgaon district specially at Rajnandgaon from where Chief Minister is
contesting against Congress candidate Alka Mudliyar.
