Sohan Potai decides to support Cong during polls

Tribal leader from Bastar and former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament and President of Sarva Adivasi Samaj, Sohan Potai on Monday declared of supporting Congress party in the assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference here , Potai said the BJP government in the state was acting against the interest of tribals and hence he has decided not to support the party.

If for the fourth consecutive time, the BJP government is formed in Chhattisgarh, it would end democracy and autocracy would prevail, he said.

He called upon the tribal community to extend full support to Congress and to vote for a change. A change is desperately needed in the governance of state and Congress could be a better alternative, he said.

Potai further charged that innocent tribals in Bastar region were killed in fake encounter in the name of curbing Maoism and they were also detained in jails while being called Naxals. The BJP led government in the state had failed to eradicate Naxalism from the state even being in power for last 15 years, he said.

Rejecting to support Ajit Jogi’s Janata Congress Chhattisgarh, Jogi, (JCC) (J), Potai said it has no existence in the state and it would not be able to form the government by itself in the state.
