Six MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) labourers from Chhattisgarh will be honoured during the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme by the Union Ministry of Rural Development on March 24.
These labourers were prepared for self-employment under the project ‘Unnati’, which aims to provide skill development training.
They were provided training at the Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (R-SETI) located in their respective districts.
A total of 75 beneficiaries of 'Unnati' are being honoured from across the country, an official communication said.
Neetu Bai Sahu (mushroom cultivation), Foolmati Kanwar (wax candles), Geetanjali Dhruva and Omeshwari Kanwar (sewing and stitching), Krishna Kumar (goat farming) and Bimal Sao (mobile repair) of Chhattisgarh will also be honored in New Delhi, the statement added.
'Unnati' is an ambitious programme launched by the MGNREGA Division of the Union Ministry of Rural Development, operated in close coordination with the National Rural Livelihoods Mission and MGNREGA.
