The Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Raipur Superintendent of Police (SP) , Neethu Kamal on Thursday interrogated the then Congress candidate for Antagarh bye poll of year 2014, Manturam Pawar, who withdrew his candidature at the last moment. The probe committee had started its investigation at the Office of Old Crime Branch which has now been winded up. It is now the make-shift office of the SIT and all the investigations and interrogations are going on there.
Manturam while talking to media persons later said that the erstwhile BJP government had already conducted the probe and the newly formed Congress government was trying to bring out the skeleton from cupboard only with the feeling of vengeance, he said.
“I didn’t want to contest the polls and that was why I withdrew my nomination and the allegations of taking bribe levelled at me are baseless”, he said.
Notable, before being interrogated with the SIT, Manturam had reportedly a detailed closed door discussion with the former Chief Minister Raman Singh.
