Singhdeo urges to nullify conditional resignation

Published on:

leader of Opposition in the Chhattisgarh Assembly, TS Singhdeo who had tendered his conditional resignation during the ongoing Winter Session of Chhattisgarh  Assembly, has now urged to nullify his resignation on Friday.

Notably, Singhdeo who was sad over comment made by a BJP member during discussion on farmer suicides on Thursday, had written a letter to the Principal Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Assembly offering his conditional resignation.

In the letter issued on Friday, the leader of Opposition  said that a Tribal named Ribai Pando had died in Bijakura village of the then Surguja district when Sunder lal Patwa was Chief Minister of undivided Madhya Pradesh.

“My mother late Devendra Kumari, who was then Surguja district Congress chief, had raised the issue,” he mentioned.

BJP member Shivratan Sharma during discussion in the House had claimed that the report of death was false and thus he had insulted my mother and Congress party, the leader of Opposition had maintained in the letter.

Singhdeo had demanded that a probe should be conducted and if Sharma's allegation was found true, then he (Singhdeo) will take the responsibility and would resign.

But if the report of death was genuine, then Sharma should take his statement back, Singhdeo said in the letter.

However Sharma had denied mentioning name of Ribai Pando in the House.

On Friday, Singhdeo wrote a letter addressed to the  Principal Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Assembly while saying that BJP member Shivratan Sharma has publically accepted that he had not taken the name of Ribai Pando so the issue ends by itself. Therefore there is no need for conditional resignation letter. Singhdeo then requested to nullify his conditional resignation on this ground.
