The Gariaband District Administration has decided to supply water from the Siksar reservoir and small water bodies for irrigation of Rabi season crops.
The decision was taken at a meeting of District Water Utility Committee called by District Collector Niranjan Das on Saturday.
The Collector also reviewed the availability of water in these reservoirs.
Water Resources Department Executive Engineer VK Bacchani informed there is around 32 per cent water in 80 small reservoirs of the district and 75 per cent in four small reservoirs.
The Siksar reservoir has water of around 77 per cent which is 10 per cent less than previous year.
It is due to this reason, the administration could not provide water for irrigation of paddy in the past.
However, in the present scenario, it is capable of supplying water to the crops of Rabi season like oilseeds, pulses and maize.
Member of Parliament’s Representative Ajay Dikshit, Sub-Divisional Magistrate R Yadav along with officials of Agriculture and Water Resources Departments were present in the meeting.
