The Chhattisgarh Government will soon be putting up signboards at all ‘unelectrified’ villages to keep track of the status of rural electrification work underway in insurgency infested Bastar region of the State.
The signboards are being put up in Bijapur, Sukma, Bastar (Jagdalpur circle) and Dantewada districts, officials informed.
The Chhattisgarh is already putting up signboards in villages which had been electrified under RGGVY and DDUGJY schemes in four Bastar districts of the State, officials informed.
The signboards are being put up at Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur and Jagdalpur circle of Bastar district.
The Chhattisgarh Government will also soon take up electrification of a total of 56 unelectrified villages of insurgency-infested Narayanpur district of Bastar region.
The project involves laying of 11 KV & lT lines besides installation of 16 and 25 Kva 11 / 0.4 Kv distribution transformers , officials informed.
A total of 18,960 out of 19,567 villages have been electrified in Chhattisgarh so far, the Central Government has informed.
A total of 607 villages remain to be electrified in the State, official informed.
The government has targetted to spend Rs 5,036 crore for augmenting rural electrification and energy distribution system, officials informed.
Notably, the power supply distribution augmentation system project would be funded by Central Government grant, equity contribution from State and loan from financial institutions.
The State-owned Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company ltd (CSPDCl) which is implementing the project has sought additional funding support from the Central government for achieving 100 per cent electrification of villages in Bastar region by FY 2018.
The special scheme would require additional finding support of Rs 665 crores of additional investment from the work carried out under Deendayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana , officials informed.
Notably, Chief Minister Raman Singh last month had reviewed works of Energy Department and issued directives to complete construction of 34 key power sub-stations in various districts of state including tribal stronghold Bastar and Surguja divisions within 18 months.
The construction cost of these 34 power sub-stations is estimated to be Rs 2100 crore.
Chief Minister said in the meeting that keeping in view the demands and requests for electricity supply received from villagers during state-wide lok Suraaj Abhiyan, these power substations should be constructed within the time-limit on priority basis, so that quality electricity supply could be ensured in far-off rural regions.
In the meeting officials informed that two power substation of 400/220KV will be constructed in Jagdalpur and Dhamtari, eight power substations of 220/132 KV will be constructed in Rajim, Borjhara (Gariaband), Parsada, Kawardha, Dharsiva, Narayanpur, Jagdalpur and Bilaspur. likewise, 24 power substations of 132/33 KV will be constructed in Koni, Ravanbhata, Batauli, Kondatarai, Sukma, Charama, lormi, Dabra, Bakhara, Vandanapuling, Shivrinarayan, Wadrafnagar, Kansabel, Bijapur, Pakhanjur, Nagri, Indagaon, Mohla, Rajpur, Dornapal, Takhatpur, Basna, Berla, and Renki (Korba).
In the meeting, it was informed that the electrification of villages not covered under 2685 hamlets being electrified under Deendayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana at the cost of nearly Rs 1250 crore and the villages being electrified using solar energy, is in progress.
It was also informed in the meeting that till March 2015, the State had 1080 villages without electricity, out of which 402 villagers were electrified in year 2015-16. In year 2016-17, target of electrification of 678 villages has been set. Against which, electrification of 80 villages has been done and that of remaining is in progress.
Chhattisgarh is aiming to achieve one third of the national power generation target of 90,000 MW through commissioning of various projects during the 12th five year plan, officials informed.
The State will procure additional power from renewable energy sources to the tune of approximately 700 MW by FY 2018, officials informed.
With this the average power purchase cost for Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company ltd (CSPDCl) based on the above power availability will increase from 2.58 Rs/kWh in FY 2015-16 to 3.12 Rs/kWh in FY 2018, they informed.
The rates have been derived based on cost of power at existing rates and considering no escalation in power purchase cost since it is passing through for the distribution company.
Notably, Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) has invested Rs 400 crores during last 11 years in developing infrastructure for solar power generation which had resulted in 40 MW of electricity being generated from non conventional energy sources.
The agency will be installing a total of 10,000 submersible and surface solar photo voltaic (SPV) irrigation pumps in farm lands soon across the State.
The SPV Pumps shall be provided with lightening and over voltage protection. The principal aim in this protection is to reduce the over voltage to a tolerable value before it reaches the PV or other sub-systems components. The source of over voltage can be lightening or any other atmospheric disturbance, officials informed.
Notably, the State government has already commenced preparation for setting up 51,000 solar powered irrigation pumps in a span of two-and-half-years in the State.
The Government has set the target of setting up 11,000 solar pumps in the current financial year till March 2017 and the rest during the next two years.
Notably, Chhattisgarh government is also planning to add 2640 MW of additional renewable energy capacity by financial year 2018-19, officials informed.
The State currently has total renewable energy potential of 4,500 MW which includes solar (grid connected and roof top), wind biomass and small hydro.
The State has also planned to install solar powered pump sets for agriculture consumers which will benefit 16,000 consumers.
It may be recalled that there are significantly more number of villages which are to be electrified in Chhattisgarh using the off-grid (solar) mode than the grid-based (conventional power supply) mode.
As per the latest data available with the Union Ministry of Power, a total of 543 villages have to be electrified under ‘off-grid’ mode compared to 101 through the conventional power supply grid as on May 31, 2016.
The State will soon also launch a ‘Solar Community Irrigation Project’ for drawing water extracted using solar pumps for supplying to the agricultural land of farmers across the State.
The pipeline extension project to be executed by CREDA would be undertaken shortly, officials informed.
