Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel should shun "cheap politics" and an "anti-Modi" agenda and establish better coordination with the Central government, BJP national Vice President and former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said on Saturday.
He said the Central government agreed to drop five coal blocks from commercial auction because the Chhattisgarh government made a request. The decision was to safeguard the interests of Chhattisgarh, he added.
Things will not work if the Chief Minister continues with his ‘anti-Modi’ agenda, Raman Singh said.
In a statement issued to the media, the former Chief Minister advised Baghel to keep the interests of the nation and state above everything else. The best option is to respect the federal structure and establish better coordination with the Centre instead of mentality opposing each issue.
“The Chief Minister should learn from Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi for being liberal to accept the demand of the state government to withdraw the auction of five coal blocks already marked for auction," Singh said.
Citing the example of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Singh said that despite political differences, he had appreciated some decisions taken by the Central government.
