All the Range Inspectors General of Police have been directed to hold surprise inspection of the police stations within their limits.
A directive in this regard was issued by the Police Headquarters.
Inspector General of Police Durg Himanshu Gupta, Deputy IG Ratan Lal Dangi, Rajnandgaon along with Kamlochan Kashyap Superintendent of Police Rajnandgaon jointly conducted inspection of Kotwali police station, Rajnandgaon.
Based on the inspection, Anup Lakhra, City Superintendent of Police has been issued show-cause notice while Station House Officer Shivendra Rajput has been line attached. Investigators of the police station have also been transferred. Additional SP has been directed to hold primary probe within three days and streamline the functioning of the police stations.
As per reports, during the surprise inspection, the police officials found that there was laxity in maintaining warehouse of the police station, resolving the seizure cases and arms were not kept properly. Large number of investigation and warrants were found to be pending.
