The free coaching offered by the Tribal Development department in higher secondary schools in the district has suffered a setback due to shortage of teachers.
A private coaching centre which has been assigned for the work was to start the coaching on January 1 to help the students to complete their syllabus and complete it by January 10. Of the three dozen schools, coaching has so far started only in six schools, sources said. Many tribal schools have already been facing shortage of regular teachers.
The tribal development department had assigned the task to Dronacharya Educational Society, a non government organisation to hire private teachers and help the students to complete their syllabus. But the society was not getting adequate number of teachers for the work. According to the tribal development department, the region has 85 higher secondary schools and the society has been asked to hire teachers to help students to complete mathematics in 42 schools.
Besides, there are at least 32 schools where the organisation needs about 100 teachers to teach physics, mathematics, biology, and chemistry. The coaching has only started in those schools which are close to the town or the schools at the block headquarters towns where no teachers were Available. Joint commissioner of the tribal development department Pl Ramteke said the government will cut the sanctioned money if the organisation does not complete the task.
