Model code of conduct enforced for the Assembly polls due in November is likely to cast its shadow over the Rajyotsav, the 13th anniversary of formation of Chhattisgarh, even as the administration has called a meeting of departments at State Secretariat (Mahanadi Bhawan) in Naya Raipur on Monday.
The meeting will discuss the extent and venue for celebrations to be organised to mark the occasion. There is possibility of reducing days of Rajyotsava from a week to 5 or possibly 3 days. According to sources, in the General Administration department a meeting of all the departments of the state government has been called on Monday in which all the details regarding the Rajyotsav would be discussed.
Though, last year a week long grand celebration of Rajyotsav was organised preceded by global investors meet, but this time in view of the model code in force in the state, Rajyotsav celebrations are likely to be of shorter period. Also this time there will be no exhibition domes of different departments of the state government and the Rajyotsav venue too may be shifted to old city areas as sans attraction of Bollywood stars very few people are likely to visit Naya Raipur.
