Two policemen were suspended in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district after a video went viral which purportedly showed them accepting money from a transporter related to a road accident.
The two police personnel including Station House Officer (SHO) of Tumgaon Police Station Sharad Tamrakar and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Vijendra Chandaniha suspended on Friday night with immediate effect based on prima facie evidence, Mahasamund Superintendent of Police Prafull Kumar Thakur said. He claimed that he would not tolerate such bevaiour of policemen as it tarnish the image of the police department.
The SP said that the video footage is of June 15 and a departmental proceeding will be initiated against them.
Meanwhile, Inspector Ramavatar Patel has been made In-charge SHO of Tumgaon Police Station.
