Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah will have a busy day in Chhattisgarh on Friday when he arrives not just to closely evaluate the party’s membership drive while also listen to the State-level leaders on a wide set of organisational issues.
Party sources here informed that Shah’s visit is not just about addressing the party workers and leaders but to also review the preparations being made for the forthcoming urban body polls in Chhattisgarh.
Coming to Chhattisgarh at a time when the State has seen the Opposition Congress gearing up to garner as many seats in the urban body polls as possible, the BJP president, sources said, is in no mood to get convinced by claims of the partymen but to verify for himself the political climate in the State.
The fact remains that party’s central leadership now wants closer monitoring of State-level units through its own set of senior leaders who are being sent to various States with very focussed agendas, a senior party leader told The Pioneer.
‘The BJP president’s visit assumes significance as he comes at time when the party needs to keep people’s mandate intact in its favour. In a broader sense, the party’s central leadership has deputed Shah to know the views of grass roots level workers and leaders on not just organisational issues but also the ability of the State unit to sail thorough the ongoing rough patch’, he said.
The visit will also make the BJP President listen to views of partymen especially in the aftermath of the sterilisation tragedy besides other issues which had grabbed national headlines during the past fortnight, he said.
