Chhattisgarh Police on Friday arrested seven drug peddlers including a Constable in Government Railway Police (GRP) and seized 93 grams of a psychoactive drug ‘Methylenedioxymethamphetamine’ (MDMA) valued at Rs 15 lakh.
The drug peddlers were arrested from Bilaspur city in Chhattisgarh and in Uttar Pradesh and brought to Raipur.
Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Yadav told The Pioneer that the arrested men were kingpin Abhishek Shukla alias David (26), GRP Constable Laxman Gaien (32), Rakesh Arora alias Sonu (28), Abdul Azeem alias Saddam (27), Mohamamd Minhaz alias Honey (26), Allen Soren (22) and Rohit Ahuja (21), all from Bilaspur city.
These seven were nabbed based on the interrogation of two drug peddlers Shreyansh Jhabak (36) and Vikas Banchhor (40), both from Raipur, who were caught red handed earlier in last month with 17 grams of MDMA valued at Rs 1.70 lakh, the officer said.
Abahishek alias David, who fled to Allahabad, was held in Uttar Pradesh.
During the interrogation, police came to know that the drug peddlers used code names for themselves and even know each other only by the code name, Yadav said.
One of the accused told police that the drug peddling racket was first started by Minhaj in Bilaspur. He made partnership with Abhishek aka David for a drug peddling business. They broke up after a money related dispute between them.
The accused told the police that he started getting drugs from Goa. He used the Constable's car to bring drugs from Goa. Laxman also provided finance to purchase drugs while Abdul, Rakesh and Rohit were paid Rs 1,000 each for every delivery of drug consignment in Raipur and Bilaspur, the officer said.
Both the GRP Constable and Abhishek came to Raipur for delivery of a drug consignment on September 27 but they fled as police came to know about their arrival.
After the arrest of Sheyansh and Vikas on September 30, Abhishek fled to Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. He threw his phone on the way to UP.
Police arrested all the drug peddlers from Bilaspur and recovered a car, the MDMA drug and a mobile phones.
