Divisional Commissioner Sonmoni Borah visited Ektal village during his visit of Raigarh district and interacted with the tribal Jhara community members. The Commissioner later stated in a meeting that a separate museum will be developed at Bilaspur and other districts in the division to exhibit the ‘Dhokra’ art of this primitive tribal community. “A separate museum will be constructed to exhibit the art of Jhara community”, he said. Borah said that a separate website providing information about the Jhara artisans, their culture and art will be established which will give further impetus to the endeavour of highlighting their cause. The district administration will prepare a strategy for their skill development and use the revolving the fund for their overall development. The Raigarh district administration will conduct a survey and also hold facilitation camps to make the Jhara artisans beneficiary of the various Government schemes.
