The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) of South East Circle A.K. Rai on Friday conducted a speed trial run on the newly laid broad-gauge railway line from Keoti to Antagarh in Chhattisgarh.
The speed trial is conducted to determine the maximum permissible speed at which trains can be allowed to run.
An official communication from the South East Central Railway said the train service will be operated depending on the report to be submitted by the inspection committee.
The statement said that once the services begin, it would link capital Raipur with Antagarh in Bastar division by rail. It will also help the locals to move to other parts of the country by rail services.
Work on the Dallirajhara-Rowghat-Jagdalpur railway line project of 235 km is in progress jointly with the Chhattisgarh government, Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC).
The rail line of 59 km from Dallirajhara to Antagarh has been laid. The passenger service from Dallirajhara to Keoti, covering 42 km, has started. The same line has now been extended to Antagarh (16.9 km).
