Security stepped up around CM's house, Raj Bhawan

The district administration stepped up security around the official residence of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh as well as governor house ‘Raj Bhawan’ Tuesday evening as soon as the news of veteran Congress leader Vidya Charan Shukla’s death was flashed.

According to police officials, the security has been beefed up to avoid any untoward incident which could occur after the death of former Union minister Vidya Charan Shukla in view of his large following in the capital.

Notably, after the Maoist attack on Congress convoy at Jeeram valley near Darbha in Bastar on May 25 in which Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee president Nand Kumar Patel, Mahendra Karma, former MlA  Uday Mudliyar along with 24 others were killed, leaders and workers of Congress and its frontal organisations had created chaos in front of CM House as well as Raj Bhawan alleging government’s failure to provide adequate security to opposition leaders which facilitated the Maoist attack in which over 28 people were killed and around 36 including Shukla were injured grievously.

Seeing the large following of the departed leader Shukla, and gathering of people in his cremation from across state, the administration strengthened security around CM House as well as Raj Bhawan as a precautionary measure.
